The body was first discovered by passers-by, who then alerted the police.
According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), upon investigation, it was found that the man was in his 40s. However, no identification is done yet as the body and face are charred and disfigured.
Meanwhile, Chengalpet railway police have sent the body for a post mortem.
Police suspect that the victim might have been murdered, following which the body was burnt on the railway track.
As per TOI reports, in order to establish identity and to get a lead in the case, police are collecting a list of people who went missing from Arakkonam, Thirumalpur and other areas in Tiruvallur district.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
