Man rescued after bridge collapses in TN’s Nilgiris due to heavy rains | Video

A video has surfaced from the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu which shows how locals rescued a man after a bridge collapsed due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
A man had a narrow escape after a bridge collapsed in Gudalur in Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris district on Wednesday. In a video that is now going viral, it can be seen that the man is struggling to climb the rope while the locals tried to pull him out of the gushing water.
Heavy rains have been lashing the district for the last few days, which also triggered landslides in the area. The Weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in certain parts likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
In the 1 minute 30 second long video, the man can be seen hanging on the edge of the collapsed bridge while people try to pull him up using ropes. After efforts, he was safely rescued as he was pulled out of the gushing water.
The man was identified as Manickam, and it is said that he had stepped out for his morning walk when the incident happened.
