Villupuram Member of Parliament D. Ravikumar has urged the Centre to introduce a Bill in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament to amend Article 21 of the Constitution and make healthcare as a fundamental right for all citizens. In a letter addressed to Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravishankar Prasad, Mr. Ravikumar said that the had not only become a major health crisis but also an economic crisis for the country’s citizens. Although students from Tamil Nadu remain the leading recipients of educational loans across India, there has been a significant decline in the number of active loans they hold. The number of active education loan accounts decreased from 27.4 lakh accounts to about 20.1 lakh in the period. The fall can be mostly attributed to the fall in Tamil Nadu’s numbers.
