Maharashtra: Man arrested for raping 8-year-old in Agripada

A man with a history of sexually assaulting minor children was arrested by the Agripada police on Friday for raping an eight-year-old.
A repeat offender with a history of sexually assaulting minor children was arrested by the Agripada police on Friday. He was arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl.
The accused, Ravindra Ghadge is a resident of a dhobi ghat at Mahalaxmi and has a criminal record of theft, breaking in and sexual offences against minors. The eight-year-old girl was his daughter’s friend.
The incident came to light when the girl began complaining of abdominal pain.
A police team consisting of inspectors Yogendra Pache and Yogesh Tandde, sub inspector Tekawade, head constables Malik and Khanvilkar and constables Apsunde and Borse worked on the case.
A police official said, “The accused knew the victim because he lived in the nearby area and his daughter was friends with the victim. The girl's grandmother called the Nirbhaya squad to take their help in identifying Gadge. We have arrested him within twelve hours of the complaint being filed. We have seized his clothes for testing and we are waiting for the medical reports. He is a repeat offender whose name had come up at Agripada police station in an earlier case too.”
Ghadge has been remanded to further police custody and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
