Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole criticizes BJP government for corruption, internal conflicts, and neglect of pressing issues.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole launched a scathing attack on the BJP alliance government on Tuesday. He alleged widespread corruption and internal conflicts. in the grouping. Addressing the media, Mr. Patole stated, “Whether it was the Fadnavis government (2014-2019), the Shinde-Fadnavis government, or the current BJP alliance, corruption has flourished under all these regimes. It’s not just one minister but the entire government that is corrupt.”
He highlighted the Dhananjay Munde controversy as evidence of internal tussles within the ruling coalition. “A BJP MLA is exposing Munde’s corruption daily, yet the Chief Minister remains silent. Is this a result of infighting between the BJP, Ajit Pawar’s NCP, and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena?” he questioned.
He also criticised the government’s failure to address pressing issues, such as farmer distress, deteriorating law and order, and women’s safety. “Farmers are awaiting dues, and soybean, paddy, and onion growers, have suffered massive losses. Meanwhile, the government prioritises foreign issues over local concerns,” Mr. Patole said.
Responding to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s claim that buffalo horns were buried at the Chief Minister’s residence, Varsha Bungalow, the Congress leader expressed dismay. “Despite an anti-superstition law, such practices persist. If true, it’s shameful and unacceptable in Maharashtra, the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu, Phule, and Ambedkar,” he stated.
Mr. Patole also condemned the disrespect of historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. “Just because someone is an artist doesn’t give them the right to insult our icons. The government’s inaction emboldens such behaviour,” he said, demanding strict action against offenders.
