
Maharashtra bank staffer dies by suicide over fear of getting rabies after dog bite

After a dog bite, a bank staffer died by suicide. The reason was that he thought that he might contract rabies.
A 30-year-old bank employee allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Kalyan after expressing fear that he had contracted rabies following a dog bite.
The incident took place in the Tisgaon Naka area of Kalyan East. The deceased has been identified as Aayush Vishwanath Amin (30), a resident of Sahajeevan Society where he lived with his family. He had been working for the past eight years at the Thane branch of Bharat Bank.
Amin was reportedly bitten on the leg by a stray dog a few days ago in the Tisgaon Naka locality. Reports indicate that he took only one anti-rabies injection following the incident. Family members reportedly noticed unusual changes in his behaviour over the past four days.
On Sunday evening, when no one else was at home, he allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself. Police recovered a suicide note from the spot in which he mentioned his fear of developing rabies symptoms.
An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at Kolsewadi Police Station, Senior Police Inspector Gurav confirmed the development. Further investigation is underway.
