As the cases of Covid-19 continue to surge in Maharashtra forcing the state to impose weekend lockdowns and weekday night curfews, the automobile industry is bracing for yet another disruption.
Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded the highest single-day jump so far, with 59,907 new coronavirus cases. The state government on Sunday announced a weekend lockdown and night curfew on weekdays, besides a slew of other restrictions like the closure of private offices, theatres and salons to curb the unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases. A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
