
Madhya Pradesh cops' suicide prevention funda: Strip inmates

A photo of a journalist and a few other men stripped to their underwear at a MadHya Pradesh police station went viral. the cops have now issued a clarification, saying that the inmates had been stripped so that they don't commit suicide.
After facing massive backlash over a photo of a journalist and a few activists locked up and stripped to their underwear at a Madhya Pradesh police station, the SHO tried to explain that this was for the “inmates’ safety”. He said that the lock-up inmates were stripped of their clothes so that they don’t commit suicide.

"We keep them in jail in this way so that they cannot commit suicide using their clothes," SHO Manoj Soni told ANI.
Photos of the journalist and seven others sitting in the lock-up in their underwear have now gone viral. The Police station in charge of Kotwali Sidhi and a sub-inspector have been suspended and attached to the police lines.

They were taken into custody for staging an “unauthorised protest” against the arrest of Neeraj Kunder, the director of Indravati Drama School on April 2. Kunder was arrested for allegedly posting defamatory content using a fake identity against a local BJP MLA and his son.
According to Soni, the protesters were released on April 3.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
