Lucknow Police arrested a youth for physically abusing a woman over the past two years on the pretext of marriage. The accused was in a live-in relationship with the victim.

The accused, identified as Rahul Mishra, lived in the Madiyaon area of Lucknow.

He had been living with the victim in a rented house for the last two years, during which he physically assaulted her. When she got pregnant, he forcefully made her undergo an abortion. When the woman pressurised him to get married, he threw her out of the house.

Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and he was arrested.

According to DCP North Zone, S Chinappa, “The victim had lodged a complaint against the accused, after which the accused was arrested. Furthermore, during the interrogation, he confessed to his crime.”
