
Lucknow sees 3 Covid deaths, highest single-day toll since December

Lucknow reported 1,385 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the total tally in the third wave to 49,091 cases and the death toll to 18. Meanwhile, 38,313 patients have recovered so far in the city, indicating a slightly better recovery count.
Recording a surge in the number of fatalities, Lucknow on Sunday reported three more Covid-related deaths, which is the highest single-day toll so far since the third wave in the city starting from December 22.
Meanwhile, 1,385 new Covid-19 cases, including 30 health care workers and a pregnant woman, were reported in the city in the last 24 hours, pushing the total tally in the third wave to 49,091 cases and the death toll to 18.
The active case count in the city stands at 10,778 cases.
With 2,026 recoveries, about 38,313 patients have recovered so far in Lucknow, indicating a slightly better recovery count.
On the other hand, with only 10 percent hospitalisation, the severity of the third wave is less in comparison to the previous wave. The number of deaths mainly includes patients suffering from chronic diseases.
Uttar Pradesh on Sunday reported 8,100 fresh Covid-19 cases and 26 more deaths in 24 hours, pushing the tally of active infections to 55,574 in the state.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
