
Low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal likely to intensify today

The low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining the south of the Andaman Sea is moving northwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar islands and is likely to intensify into a depression today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin said the low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining the south of the Andaman Sea is moving northwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar islands and is likely to intensify into a depression today. It is likely to transform into a storm cyclone by March 21.
Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly north-northeastwards and reach near the Bangladesh-north Myanmar coasts around the morning of March 22, 2022.
The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over the Nicobar Islands.
