Loudspeaker row: In UP's Pilibhit, loudspeakers removed from places of worship have been donated to schools and colleges.
After Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised last month that loudspeakers should be removed from religious sites or their volume reduced, loudspeakers taken down from places of worship in Pilibhit district have been donated to educational institutes.
Under the directions of Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar, religious leaders had loudspeakers removed from temples, mosques and gurudwaras in the district.
Now, the same loudspeakers have been donated to Vidya Mandir College in Pilibhit and schools across the district.
The Superintendent of Police praised the religious leaders for this initiative. He said, “The loudspeakers given to schools will be useful for the administration and the children for programmes on August 15, January 26, the annual school festival and so on. We have honoured the religious leaders for the same, so that others follow suit and all loudspeakers can be put to good use.”
