
Loudspeaker row: Maharashtra PFI leader booked for inciting speech

A FIR has been registered against PFI Mumbra President, Mateen Shekhani on Friday for allegedly giving an inciting speech against MNS chief’s statement on the removal of loudspeakers from mosques.
A FIR has been registered against Popular Front of India (PFI) Mumbra President, Mateen Shekhani on Friday by the Mumbai police.
The Mumbra Police booked the Maharashtra PFI leader under IPC section 188 and sections 37(3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for an illegal gathering where he allegedly gave an inciting speech.
Reacting to MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s statement on the removal of loudspeakers from mosques, the PFI Mumbra President, Matim Shekhani, on Friday during a protest claimed that if they touch a single loudspeaker then PFI will be seen at the front line.
“If you touch even a single loudspeaker, then PFI will be seen at the forefront,” Shekhani claimed.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, at a public rally in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, had demanded the removal of loudspeakers from mosques and threatened that in case a call on the issue was not taken by the state, speakers outside mosques would play Hanuman Chalisa at a higher volume.

After Friday prayers in Mumbra, a Muslim-dominated area of Thane Rural, near Mumbai, PFI Mumbra President also protested against the violence during Ram Navami processions in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

India's original Dhurandhar, Ravindra Kaushik, rose from acting at college theatres, to infiltrating the Pakistan Army as a RAW Agent. He provided critical intelligence on Pakistani troop movements and the country's nuclear programme, but died a lonely death after his betrayal and subsequent capture by the ISI.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
