Lohiya Group’s biscuit plant in Medchal opened
Lohiya Group, on Wednesday, inaugurated a biscuit manufacturing facility in Medchal, Telangana, that will entail an investment of ₹300 crore over the next four years and generate 6,000 jobs.
Spanning seven acres, the production capacity of the new high-speed automated facility is 1,000 tonnes a month with modular capabilities that enable further scaling to 5,000 tonnes a month, group firm Lohiya Confectionery said after Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy opened the plant.
The ₹300 crore, four-year capital outlay is projected to create 6,000 new livelihoods, with 2,000 jobs on-site and an additional 4,000 across its extended supply and distribution ecosystem, underscoring the facility’s potential as a local economic accelerator, the company said.
Local sourcing of flour, sugar, jaggery, honey, dairy products and other natural ingredients is one of the key features. The emphasis is on women-first employment drive aimed at increasing the number of women in the manufacturing workforce. Currently, over 40% of the staff are women, the company said.
High-quality ingredients, intricate designs and advanced biotechnology are behind the biscuit manufacturing process, Lohiya Confectionery Managing Director Manisha Lohiya Lahoti said.
The company has established operations in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Chhattisgarh and plans to commence exports in the near term.
“We are combining precision engineering with purposeful impact, creating a blueprint for food manufacturing...” Lohiya Group Managing Director Mahaveer Lohiya said.
