
Locals alert police about 'bomb-like' object in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district

A team of the bomb disposal squad was dispatched to Kumta in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday after locals reported finding a 'bomb-like' object behind a polytechnic college.
The area in and around Kumta in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district has been cordoned off after locals alerted the police about a 'bomb-like' object.
According to officials familiar with the case, the 'bomb-like' object was discovered at a spot behind the Shree Vidyadhiraj Polytechnic College in Kumta on Wednesday.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
