Lakhimpur Kheri violence: SIT releases photos, seeks leads about suspects

The SIT, probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, on Friday released pictures of people present at the site of the incident on OCtober 3. It has appealed to the public to identify the persons in the photographs.
The Uttar Pradesh Police probing the October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case released six pictures of people near an SUV, which was set ablaze during the incident.
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh had set up the SIT to investigate the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which eight people were killed. Four of them were farmers who were allegedly knocked down by a vehicle carrying BJP workers. Two BJP workers and a driver were beaten to death allegedly by the angry farmers, while a local journalist was also killed in the violence.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
