Kristin Chenoweth Says Charlie Kirk Backlash 'Nearly Broke Her'

"What a heartbreak," the Broadway legend said just after Kirk was killed.
Kristin Chenoweth was one of the most prominent celebrities to comment on the killing of Charlie Kirk.
After the right-wing activist was fatally shot at a college appearance in September, Chenoweth wrote in the comments of one of Kirk’s Instagram posts that she was “so upset” about his death.
“Didn’t always agree but appreciated some perspectives. What a heartbreak,” she wrote at the time. “His young family. I know where he is now. Heaven. But still.”
Now, the Broadway legend ― and prominent supporter of LGBTQ+ rights ― is opening up about the intense backlash she faced after her comments angered her legions of fans.
“It was tough on me, but I’m not going to answer any questions about it because I dealt with it,” Chenoweth said in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on Monday.
