The Krishnagiri district police have identified five roads in Hosur town for recreational activities on Sunday mornings. Traffic will be halted from 6 a.m to 9 a.m on these stretches for the convenience of the public.
The police have demarcated Mathikiri junction to Anthivadi Stadium junction, Dhargha Muthumariamman temple to Wendt India Company, Kothur junction to TVS Road junction, Sub-Collector’s office to Central Excise Road and Pathala School junction to Kallikambal Temple junction for the activities.
Except for emergency vehicles, traffic movement would be stopped on the stretches on Sunday mornings, Superintendent of Police Saroj Kumar Thakur said. People can cycle, walk or organise other recreational activities during the three hours, the officials said.
Four special teams have been formed to monitor law and order and traffic movement in Hosur town. Each 12-member team will work in six-hour shifts and will be involved in crime prevention. He added that the special team for traffic would check violations and there would better enforcement of rules.
On strengthening vigil in borders to prevent smuggling of contrabands into the State, Mr. Thakur said that Krishnagiri Border Police Commandos would be deployed in Jujuvadi, Maharajakadai, Veppanapalli, and Berigai to prevent smuggling of such goods .

“Walk for Equality was aimed at creating a movement to crush the forces attempting to divide the people along religious line, said Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader Vaiko. Concluding his 140-kilometre ‘Samathuva nadai payanam’ from Tiruchi to Madurai on Monday, Mr. Vaiko said, “The Hindutva forces are actively attempting to drive a wedge between communities through various incidents, most notably the Thirupparankundram deepam controversy, using identity-based politics to achieve their divisive motives.”
