KPCC inquiry reveals Congress leaders in Thrissur colluded with BJP, causing setbacks in Lok Sabha elections.
The KPCC inquiry commission’s findings on the recent Lok Sabha elections in Thrissur have made it clear that Congress district leaders deliberately caused setbacks. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) district committee has pointed out that these failures were a result of an unholy alliance of the Congress leaders with the BJP in the district.
The commission has accused leaders like T.N. Prathapan, Jose Vallur, Anil Akkara, and M.P. Vincent, explicitly naming them. According to the findings, Congress members worked to divert votes to NDA candidate Suresh Gopi in several Assembly segments. This led to the Congress losing 64,000 votes, and UDF candidate K. Muraleedharan ended up in third place, the LDF district committee noted.
“Mr. Prathapan, who had adopted a treacherous stance, is now serving as the Working President of the KPCC. With the inquiry report now public, the demand has been raised for him to resign from this position, or else he should be removed from office,” the LDF alleged.
The shift in votes towards the BJP during the election was not an isolated incident. For years, Congress leaders in the district have been sympathetic to BJP-controlled agencies, praising them. Mr. Anil Akkara and Mr. Jose Valloor, in particular, have acted like propagandists for the Central government. While Central agencies such as the ED targeted CPI(M), these leaders were openly defending the BJP-controlled agencies, it added.
Politically, they have been adopting stances that benefit the RSS. During the Lok Sabha elections, these leaders are believed to have supported the BJP. Despite the conclusions of the inquiry commission appointed by their own party’s state leadership, those involved in the manipulation have not responded.
Attempts to conceal the Congress-BJP nexus in Thrissur and spread falsehoods during the elections, including claims of a supposed CPI(M)-BJP “undercurrent ,” have now been exposed. The inquiry report sheds light on the Congress’s downfall in the district, exposing the deceit and betrayal within their party, it pointed out.
