A 22-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly got her father drunk before setting him on fire in Kolkata. The woman told the police that her father physically and emotionally tortured her.
A 22-year-old Kolkata woman allegedly set her father on fire after she took him out for dinner and got him drunk, police said. As part of an elaborate plan, the woman took her father out for dinner to a restaurant on Sunday night where she got him drunk. The father-daughter duo then went to the Chadpal Ghat on Strand Road for a walk. Once her father fell asleep as they were sitting on a bench on the banks of the Hooghly river, the woman allegedly poured kerosene on him and set him on fire, a police officer said.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
