Kochi airport receives bomb threat, later confirmed as hoax amid heightened security concerns post-plane crash.
The Kochi international airport received a bomb threat on Friday morning (June 13, 2025). The threat was later found to be a hoax.
The airport’s public relations officer received an e-mail threatening a bomb blast. A pipe bomb blast was threatened at Anna University and the Kochi airport to “commemorate the unfair hanging of Afsal Guru,” according to the mail.
Immediately, the airport convened a meeting of its Bomb Threat Assessment Committee, comprising multiple agencies.
The meeting, however, found the threat to be “non-specific” and dismissed it.
Incidentally, the airport had received a similar hoax earlier this year.
The threat on Friday assumed added significance in the wake of the plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
