
Kingpin of gang arrested for carrying out robbery at Pune bar in 2021

The leader of 'Koyta gang' has been arrested for carrying out a robbery at a bar in Pune's Ambegaon in March 2021. The accused who had been on the run since the incident had also tried to set the bar on fire.
Pune Police crime branch has arrested the leader of 'Koyta gang', who barged into a bar in Ghodegaon of Pune's Ambegaon and carried out a robbery. The case was registered at Ghodegaon police station after Bappu Tukaram Jadhav had lodged a complaint.
It was on March 21, 2021 at around 5 PM, that the accused, Babu Gengje and Gotya alias Ashok Madhge, along with his three to four associates had barged into Hotel Sagar Bar and demanded money from the hotel counter. They even tried to set the hotel on fire by pouring petrol.
As per the information, the accused, Babu Gangje and Ashok Madage were running a gang named 'Koyta Gang' in Dimbhe area.
According to Crime Branch constable Deepak Sable, the accused, Ashok Madage, used to work as a painter in Bhima Koregaon. When he was interrogated, he confessed to his crime. The accused has been handed over to Ghodegaon police station for further investigation.(With inputs from Smita Shinde)
