
Kerala to introduce state level awards on model of Padma awards: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Thursday that the state will give 'Kerala Awards' on the model of Padma awards to individuals who have made "priceless contribution to the society".
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Thursday that the state has decided to institute the highest state-level award on the model of Padma awards. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting.
The 'Kerala Awards' will be given to individuals who have made "priceless contribution to the society", informed the chief minister. They will be awarded in three categories, namely 'Kerala Jyothi', 'Kerala Prabha' and 'Kerala Sree'.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
