Kerala Muslim leader caught scolding event organisers for inviting schoolgirl on stage

A Muslim leader was caught on camera scolding the members of a Kerala Sunni scholars association, for inviting a schoolgirl on stage to receive an award.
A Muslim leader was caught on camera visibly upset and scolding the members of Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama (SKJU), an association of Kerala Sunni scholars, for inviting a schoolgirl on stage during a felicitation event.
In a purported video clip that has gone viral, the SKJU members were seen presenting awards to a boy, after which a girl was invited onto the stage to receive her award.
Once she received the award, the Muslim leader Abdulla Musaliyar walked towards the members who felicitated the girl and reprimanded the members for inviting the girl on stage.
“Who called the girl here? I’ll show you [who I am] next time you call a girl here. Aren’t you supposed to call the parents as per Samantha rules? Won’t this come in photo?” said Abdulla Musaliyar while walking towards the members.
Condemning the act, advocate Fathima Thahiliya stated that such insults will have long-lasting consequences in society.
“Remember Safa, the sixteen-year-old who beautifully translated Rahul Gandhi’s speech during the campaigning of the last Lok Sabha elections? The community should encourage such Muslim girls and use their talents and skill for their betterment," she said in a Facebook post.
Congress and Left parties are yet to react to the incident and the upcoming by-election is speculated to be the reason behind the delayed response.
