
Kerala health minister says state has recorded 63 new Omicron cases

Health minister Veena George, on Tuesday, confirmed that Kerala recorded 63 new cases of Omicron. Six cases in Thiruvananthapuram are students of a private college.
In a press statement on Tuesday, January 18, Veena George, Kerala’s health minister confirmed 63 more new cases of Omicron in the state. This takes the total number of Omicron cases in Kerala to 591.
Health Minister Veena George said that Omicron has been confirmed for 63 more people in the state. The district wise split up of the new cases are Thrissur-15, Thiruvananthapuram-14, Kollam-10, Ernakulam-8, Malappuram-4, Idukki-3, Palakkad-2, Pathanamthitta and one each in Kottayam and Kozhikode.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
