Kelavarapalli Dam’s sluice gates opened for irrigation

Kelavarapalli dam releases water to irrigate 8,000 acres in Hosur and Shoolagiri taluks, benefiting 22 villages.
The sluice gates of Kelavarapalli dam were opened to irrigate 8,000 acres in Hosur and Shoolagiri taluks on Wednesday.
Water released through the Left Main Canal will irrigate 5,918 acres, while water released through the Right Main canal will irrigate 2,082 acres. A total of 457.58 mcft of water will be released on turns.
The water will be released taking into consideration the inflow into the reservoir. The water will be released for 90 days on a turn system, with a five-day release followed by a five-day stoppage.
The waters will irrigate watershed areas spread across Hosur and Shoolagiri taluks to cover 22 villages. Thattaganapalli, Bhoothinatham, Bethamuthali, Muthali, Athur, Marasanthiram, Kathirepalli, Moranapalli, Thorapalli, Tiruchipalli, Kothur, Kamadotti, Dinnur. Subagiri, Koneripalli, Sinnakollu, Bethakollu, Samanapalli, Sennathur, Attakurukki, Nallakanakottapalli, and Marthandapalli will be irrigated by Kelavarapalli waters.
Earlier, Collector C. Satheesh Kumar opened the sluice gates of the two main canals.
