Many Karnataka MLAs met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to demand cabinet expansion in the state.
Many Karnataka MLAs met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and sought a cabinet expansion in the state. They demanded a cabinet berth and said the expansion needs to be done immediately, keeping in view the general polls next year.
MLAs Renukacharya and Basangouda Patil Yatnal met on Thursday to discuss the matter. Both MLAs have publically spoken about being cabinet aspirants.

MLA Renukacharya said, "We will meet high command to discuss the BJP's [Bharatiya Janata Party] future and how to stop the Congress in the state. We will discuss the cabinet expansion as well.
"There is no point becoming minister after March. We will be busy in the constituency as elections are coming up. Everyone needs time to show their performance as a minister," MLA Renukacharya said.

Sources in the government said the high command is busy with the upcoming assembly election in five states and has no time till March for Karnataka.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
