Karnataka Government waives ₹52.25 crore electricity dues for Mysugar factory in Mandya district, enabling sugarcane crushing.
The State Government has waived the electricity dues amounting to ₹52.25 crore by State-owned Mysuru Sugar Company Ltd., also known as Mysugar of Mandya district.
The Cabinet meeting held in Belagavi last week took a decision to waive the pending electricity bills of the factory.
In July 5, 2024, MLC Dinesh Gooligowda had urged the State government to waive the electricity bill dues of Mysugar given its poor financial condition and enable the factory to crush the sugarcane produced in the district.
The factory has not paid its electricity bills for the last 25 years and has an outstanding bill of ₹52.25 crore to be paid to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited.
CESC had also served a notice to the General Manager of Mysugar that it will disconnect power supply to the factory if it does not clear its outstanding electricity bill.
In a release, Mr Gooligowda thanked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for waiving the electricity dues of Mysugar. (eom)
