Karnataka Assembly passes Bill increasing salaries of ministers, chairman, speaker

The Karnataka Assembly passed the Karnataka Legislature salaries, pensions and allowances Amendment bill 2022 on Tuesday, February 22. This has sanctioned an extra Rs 67 crore per annum and increased the salaries of Ministers, Chairman, Deputy Chair and the Speaker.
Amidst the chaos taking place in the Karnataka Assembly, a Bill has been passed that increases the salaries of Ministers, Chairman, Speaker and Deputy chair.
The Karnataka Assembly passed the Karnataka Legislature salaries, pensions and allowances Amendment bill 2022 on Tuesday, February 22. A total additional expenditure of Rs 67 crore per annum has been sanctioned.
This comes at the same time that major issues like the hijab row, the replacing of the tricolour flag and the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga are already rocking the Karnataka assembly and the state as a whole.
Karnataka Congress MLAs, on Friday, February 19, staged an overnight agitation by spending the whole of Thursday night inside the Assembly. They demanded the dismissal of minister KS Eshwarappa over his statement on the national flag.
On Monday, February 21, the opposition Congress and the ruling BJP locked horns over the alleged replacing of the tricolour with a saffron flag in Shivamogga. The Congress members began protesting inside the assembly after the Speaker’s attempt to find a compromise between the two parties failed.
