Kadapa district launches 'Women First' program to promote women's health and awareness about proper eating habits.
Kadapa district administration has emphasised addressing women’s health issues, in connection with the ‘International Women’s Day’.
Generally, women are the last to eat every meal of the day, after feeding the other family members, say, spouse, children and parents, which leaves them with severe after effects.
Titled ‘Women First’, the novel programme supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aims at creating awareness among women on the need to inculcate the habit of eating first or along with others.
Kadapa district Collector Sridhar Cherukuri, Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke, Government Whip and MLA Reddeppagari Madhavi and Joint Collector Nidhi Meena formally released a poster on the ‘Women First’ concept.
Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) and the Medical & Health departments have been roped in to jointly create awareness among women on the need to eat first.
They also inspected the stalls arranged by SERP and MEPMA as part of employment and poverty alleviation activities, with some stalls specifically focussed on making available nutritional food like eggs, chicken, moringa-based food etc.
