BJP Yuva Morcha committee member Praveen Nettar was hacked to death by three bike-borne people on Tuesday night in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district.
The murder of Praveen Nettar, a zilla BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) committee member in Karnataka, led to massive unrest in the state as protests erupted demanding action against the culprits. Security forces were deployed in Bellare village of the Dakshina Kannada district in the wake of the incident.
Section 144 has been imposed in Dakshina Kannada district till midnight of August 6.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the probe into the murder will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), noting it was an "organised crime" with inter-state links.
