Jitesh Patil assumes charge as TGSPDCL CMD, while Musharraf Faruqui takes over as first CMD of the new Discom in Telangana.
A 2016-batch IAS officer Jitesh V. Patil on Friday assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL). He took over from Md. Musharraf Faruqui, who was posted as the CMD of the new Discom coming to operation from April 1.
A mechanical engineering degree holder from IIT Delhi, Mr. Patil held the positions of Municipal Commissioner of Nizamabad and District Collector of Kamareddy and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts. He also worked on deputation at the Centre as the Assistant Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
Speaking after taking the charge in TGSPDCL, he said providing uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers would be his main objective.
On the other hand, Mr. Faruqui, a 2014-batch IAS officer took over as the first CMD of the new Discom. He shifted focus on the establishment of the new utility that would handle about 30 lakh connections of agricultural connections, metro water board and lift irrigation schemes with about 2,000 engineers and other staff from the two existing Discoms likely to be shifted to the new Discom.

Kerala has historically served as a bridge between the east and the west. It is time we ceased being merely a bridge — and started being the destination. A destination where the best of the world is adapted, improved, and offered back to humanity with a distinctly Malayali touch, writes Shashi Tharoor.
