Social media users thoroughly rebuked Fox News host Jesse Watters on Monday for his choice of “the most beautiful word,” as he unwittingly named more than one during a discussion on “The Five” — and both refer to policies or entities that have ruined untold lives.
The moment came mere hours after President Donald Trump’s administration announced that the U.S. and China had reached a temporary tariffs deal, and saw Watters gloat over his co-host Harold Ford Jr., who previously said on the air that the trade war “isn’t working.”
“I was watching [Treasury Secretary] Scott Bessent announce this deal,” Watters said Monday. “Not because it’s a great deal, which, it is a great deal, I just don’t wanna hear this guy [Ford Jr.] talk about tariffs anymore. I’m sick of it. He’s been wrong this whole time.”
“Trump says this is the most beautiful word in the world,” he continued. “I like ‘deportation.’ I like ‘DOGE.’”
As Watters referenced, Trump has previously argued that “tariff” is “the most beautiful word in the dictionary.” Trump sent global markets into upheaval last month when he announced steep tariffs on all U.S. imports.
