
J-K Hawala operator arrested for funding terror outfits LeT, Al-Badr

A J-K Hawala operator was arrested for allegedly being involved in the funding of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Al-Badr terror outfits.
A Hawala operator involved in terror funding was arrested after a joint operation between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday. The accused, identified as Mohammed Yaseen, was allegedly involved in the funding of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Al-Badr terror outfits.
According to the police, 48-year-old Yaseen worked as an agent in Hawala transactions to fund terror outfits.
A special team led by Sunil Kumar Rajain and Ravinder Joshi apprehended Yaseen from a Jammu bus stand along with the terror funding amount of Rs 7 lakh.

"Mohammed Yaseen gave around Rs 10 lakh to a terror operative, Abdul Hamid Mir of J&K, for further use in terrorist activities. In this regard, J&K Police registered a case and arrested Yaseen from a Jammu bus stand," the police said in a statement.
The police also said that the money illegally funded from overseas sources was used for funding terror-related activities in the valley.
The accused was under cover as a garment trader and was operating from Meena Bazar, Delhi. During interrogation, Yaseen disclosed that the Hawala money was being sent to India through South Africa.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
