J&K admin constitutes SIT to probe Rahul Bhat’s killing, promises govt job to his wife

An SIT has been formed to investigate the killing of Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit who was shot dead by terrorists in Budgam district on Thursday. The J&K government has also promised a government job to the victim’s wife.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder of Rahul Bhat, an employee of the revenue department in Budgam district. The victim, a Kashmiri Pandit, was shot at by terrorists on Thursday. He succumbed to his injuries later.

Following his death, members of the Kashmiri Pandit community took to the streets in protest. On Friday, over 350 government employees in the Kashmir valley, all Kashmiri Pandits, have submitted their resignation letters to J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The employees claimed that they didn’t feel safe in the Valley.

The authorities have now formed a SIT to probe Rahul Bhat’s death.

The J&K administration has also promised to provide a government job to Rahul Bhat’s wife in Jammu as well as extend financial assistance to the family.

The government has also promised to bear the educational expenses of the victim’s daughter.
