HMWSSB to address drinking water and sewerage issues in Hyderabad through morning visits four days a week, starting February 20.
To address issues affecting drinking water supply and sewerage lines, officials and staff of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) would visit all localities four days a week from 7.00 a.m. to 10 a.m. They would be available at offices from 2 p.m. The ‘Jalamandali, Basthi Bata’ (Water Board, Basthi Tour) programme would be launched on Friday (February 20, 2026).
The issues that would be addressed include leakages, low-pressure of drinking water supply, water pipelines maintenance, desilting, water wastage, manholes, fixing metres to water taps, quality of drinking water and others. Besides, people would be made aware about rainwater harvesting pits and injection borewells, as per a press release issued on Thursday (February 19, 2026).
After speaking to people in the mornings, the Ward Managers have to file a report on the issues detected, temporary solutions taken up and long-term solutions needed. This will be uploaded to a mobile app, to be sent to their higher ups. A review meeting would be held on Saturdays.
Every one, from Managing Director to Ward Managers will be participating in the colony visits. The MD, joint MDs, Directors, Regional Executive Directors and others would take up surprise inspections to review the programme.
The programme is being introduced a week after HMWSSB’s jurisdiction was expanded to include Core Urban Region (CURE). The Board was divided into three regional units — Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri.
