Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met the head of the UN nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Geneva on Monday ahead of a fresh round of negotiations with the United States over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Araghchi held talks with IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi a day before US–Iran discussions mediated by Oman are due to resume in the Swiss city. Araghchi said he would also meet Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, whose country is hosting the talks.
"I am in Geneva with real ideas to achieve a fair and equitable deal," Araghchi wrote on X. "What is not on the table: submission before threats."
Monday’s meeting between Araghchi and Grossi marks a significant step in cooperation with the IAEA following its conflict with Israel and US last year. The agency has said it cannot fully verify the status of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile since then.
Grossi has previously warned that Iran’s holdings of uranium enriched to 60 per cent could theoretically be sufficient for several nuclear weapons if further refined, though he stressed that does not mean Iran has built a bomb.
Iran has allowed inspectors limited access to some facilities but has restricted visits to others.

If true, the deployment will give Britain the capability to launch strikes on Iran in case the regional conflict escalates drastically. Earlier, on Friday, the British government had authorised the US military to use military bases in Britain to carry out strikes on Iranian missile sites that are attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
