Interstate gang of auto lifters busted in Delhi; 6 arrested

Delhi Police has busted an interstate gang of auto lifters involved in multiple motorcycle thefts. Police have also arrested six men in connection with the case.
With the arrest of six men, Delhi Police has busted an interstate gang of auto lifters and receivers of stolen vehicles. Police also recovered stolen motorcycles from their possession.
Police had swung into action after several incidents of motorcycle theft were reported on a regular basis from Surajmal Vihar Market, near Chaska Restaurant.
After a detailed investigation and scanning of CCTV footage, police zeroed-in on two suspects and the lead was further developed.
It was on May 19 that police received secret information that the suspects would come to A Block in Surajmal Vihar Market, for stealing a motorcycle. Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and one of the accused, identified as Azeem, was apprehended.
During interrogation, Azeem confessed to having committed more than 100 vehicle thefts in the same vicinity in the past one year. Subsequently, his associate Javed was also arrested from his rented house in Chauhan Bangar, Seelampur, North-East Delhi.
Similarly, Furkaan, a receiver of stolen motorcycles, was also arrested from his spare parts shop in DDA Tyre Market, Gokalpuri. A search was conducted and over 100 motorcycle engines and engine blocks, tools for tampering/altering and erasing the engine numbers were recovered from his shops. All the shops have been sealed till further investigation into the case.
At the instance of Furkaan, three scrap dealers, namely Shahid, Hariom and Nadeem were also arrested from their shops.
