Bridegroom stoned to death by bride's family hours after their inter-caste marriage in East Godavari, police investigating.
Polipalli Surya Prakash (41) was stoned to death by the family members of the bride at the former’s residence on the midnight of Thursday (February 26, 2026) at Dwarapudi village in Mandapeta Mandal in East Godavari district, hours after the duo entered into a wedlock.
The apparent reason for the incident is reportedly an inter-caste marriage.
On February 26, Mr. Surya Prakash and 40-year-old Ayanavalli Sandhya, who is serving as Deputy Collector, entered into wedlock on the Annavaram temple campus. Later, the duo arrived at the house of Mr. Surya Prakash at night. The duo had been in love for over two years.

In an official release issued by East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore, the family members of the bride have reportedly stoned the groom to death at around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday (February 26). Rajamahendravaram East Zone DSP Ms. Vidhya rushed to the spot.
The dead body has been sent to the Government General Hospital, Rajamahendravaram, for post-mortem. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
