A local court in Mumbai on Thursday acquitted a man, arrested in connection with communal riots that took place in Mumbai in 1993. The accused was cleared of all charges due to lack of evidence. While pronouncing the verdict, the Mumbai court observed that the accused Rashid Khan might have been "an innocent bystander".
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
