Indian student's body embalmed in Ukraine mortuary, will be flown back once shelling stops: Karnataka CM

After speaking to EAM Jaishankar, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that the Indian student’s body, who was killed in Ukraine, is in a mortuary and embalmed. He said the body would be flown back once the shelling stops.
The Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, after speaking to external affairs minister, Jaishankar, said that the body of the Indian student Naveen, who was killed in Ukraine, is in a mortuary and it has been embalmed.
He said that once the shelling stops, Naveen’s body will be flown back. He added that the Embassy was in touch with the morgue officials.
“I spoke to Jaishankar and was told that Naveen’s body is in a mortuary and it's embalmed. Shelling is still on and once it's stopped, the body will be flown back. The Embassy is in touch with mortuary officials,” said the Karnataka Chief Minister.

Naveen, a 21-year-old medical student from Karnataka, was studying in Ukraine. He was killed when Russian forces shelled the city of Kharkiv during the first week of the war.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Karnataka CM Basvaraj Bommai spoke to Naveen’s family and offered them their condolences.
The Karnataka CM, who met Naveen’s parents, handed over a cheque for Rs 25 lakh as compensation and assured his brother of a job. The brother is pursuing his doctorate.
