India tour of England: Rohit Sharma joined the training session as India shifted their base to Leicestershire wherein they will play a 4-day warm-up match from June 24.

Captain Rohit Sharma joined India's first training session in Leicestershire as the Test specialists returned to action in the lead-up to the much-anticipated one-off Test series against England. The team, which had a couple of training sessions upon their arrival in London, have now shifted base to Leicestershire.

India's Test team will be training in Leicestershire for a period of one week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said. India, led by Rohit Sharma, will be playing a 4-day warm-up match against county club Leicestershire from June 24 to 27. The one-off Test for India in England will get underway on July 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The first batch of India's Test specialists arrived in London on June 16 as the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shardul Thakur left from Mumbai. Skipper Rohit Sharma did not travel with the first batch but left for the UK a day later.

The latest batch to leave for England consisted of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, who flew from Bengaluru. Both of them were part of the 5-match T20I series against South Africa with Pant leading the team in the absence of KL Rahul, who was ruled out due to a groin injury.

In photos shared by the BCCI, captain Rohit Sharma was looking on as the team started outdoor training in Leicestershire. Notably, net bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti was also training with the likes of Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah.

India lead the 5-match Test series 2-1, which remained incomplete due to Covid-19 concerns last year. The one-off Test will bring a conclusion to the series and more importantly, World Test Championship points are up for grabs.
