IPL 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expanded its operational guidelines for this season, introducing stricter regulations, including a complete ban on match-day practice sessions, according to a report by Cricbuzz.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will operate under tighter regulations after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced a fresh set of operational rules for all franchises. '
The IPL 2026 season will begin on March 28, with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the updated framework includes a ban on match-day practice, along with stricter control over team movement, practice facilities, and match-day conduct.
The BCCI had earlier issued guidelines regarding practice surfaces and net usage on March 12. However, the board has now added further instructions, expanding the existing framework rather than issuing standalone rules.
While the earlier directives focused mainly on practice surfaces, restrictions on the main square, and scheduling windows, the newly added regulations address player travel protocols, access restrictions, and discipline during practice and match days.
These updated guidelines were circulated to team managers on March 24.
