IPL 2026: Yograj Singh fires back at Ashwin for writing off Arjun Tendulkar at LSG, saying he could make him surpass every batsman in the world within six months.
Yograj Singh has come out with a fiery reply, hitting back at Ravichandran Ashwin for writing off Arjun Tendulkar ahead of Lucknow Super Giants' Indian Premier League 2026 campaign.
The outspoken former India cricketer and renowned coach did not hold back, tearing into Ashwin in an interview with InsideSport.
"He's talking bull****. This guy, Ash, whoever he is, should know what to say about somebody. Somebody sitting on television and talking about, 'Oh, he can't do this, he can't do that.' Who are you?" Yograj said.
The former Punjab cricketer has long believed in Arjun's potential, having coached him back in 2022. In just 12 days of training, Arjun scored a century on debut. Yograj even pushed for a full year together, but it never happened. He also pointed to a technical issue he feels has been widely overlooked. "He had a spine problem, and his hand came from 45 degrees," he said.
"I challenge the whole world. Arjun Tendulkar spending 6 months with me will surpass all the batsmen in this world," Yograj declared.
The outburst was triggered by remarks Ashwin made on his YouTube channel, where he was blunt about Tendulkar's prospects at LSG. "Arjun Tendulkar khelega hi nahi, (Arjun Tendulkar won't even play)" Ashwin said, suggesting the bowler has little to no chance of breaking into the playing XI. He pointed to the formidable pace options already at LSG's disposal, with Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Shami all ahead in the pecking order.
