Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has strongly dismissed repeated speculation linking him with the managerial position at Real Madrid, labelling the reports as complete "nonsense" invented by "idiots".
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has firmly dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, calling the reports "nonsense" while reiterating that he has had no contact with the Spanish giants.
Klopp, who stepped away from coaching in 2024, citing exhaustion after a long spell at Liverpool, is currently serving as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull GmbH, overseeing a network of clubs including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls. Despite his shift into an executive role, the German tactician continues to be the subject of persistent rumours regarding a return to the dugout.
Speaking at a media briefing in Ismaning, the 58-year-old categorically denied any approach from Real Madrid. He did not mince words when addressing the speculation.
"That was written by the same idiots. It's all just nonsense. They haven't called me once, not a single time. And they haven't called my agent either," Klopp said.
He reiterated the point in televised remarks, adding: "It's all just nonsense. They haven't even called once, not one single time. And my agent is over there-you can ask him too, they haven't called him either."
Klopp was speaking during an event in his role as a television pundit ahead of the upcoming World Cup, where he also addressed questions about his future in management. While he made it clear that he is not actively considering a return at present, he stopped short of ruling it out entirely.
