
India sees drop in fresh Covid-19 cases but fresh deaths still exceed 4,000

India saw a drop in daily Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. However, daily deaths in the country crossed the 4,000-mark again, according to the health ministry's data released Wednesday morning.
India registered a drop in daily Covid-19 cases as 2,08,921 more infections were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. With fresh cases, the overall tally has mounted to 2,71,57,795, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Wednesday morning. India also reported 4,157 more deaths due to the infection, pushing the nationwide toll to 3,11,388. Meanwhile, there are a total of 24,95,591 active Covid-19 cases in the country and 2,43,50,816 people have recovered from the disease.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
