India reported 8,318 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, 21.1 per cent lower than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.

This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,45,63,749. Total recoveries were at 3,39,88,797 across the country. A total of 10,967 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 98.34 per cent.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
