India and Pakistan are expected to hold discussions on the Indus Water Treaty today, wherein issues regarding the objections of Islamabad on New Delhi's designs of the Indian hydropower project in Chenab river under the agreement are likely to be raised during the talks underway here between Indus Commissioners of both countries.

The talks are being held after a gap of over two years as a part of the annual Permanent Indus Commission meeting. The last meeting took place in Lahore in August 2018. While the Indian delegation is being led by PK Saxena who will be joined by his advisors from the Central Water Commission, the Central Electricity Authority and the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, the Pakistan delegation is headed by its Indus Commissioner Syed Muhammad Meher Ali Shah.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
