India Today TV spoke to Shiromani Akali Dal Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral on a range of issues concerning the 2022 Punjab Assembly election.
With Punjab moving toward the 2022 Assembly election, political activity is heating up in the border state. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), tied up with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has roped in an election management company that worked in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election and started work in Punjab six weeks ago. SAD sources say that initial surveys show favourable trends --- the Aam Aadmi Party likely to be its main rival and the Congress could be a distant third. SAD sources say that the BSP's votes are transferable, and it will help the party win in 2022.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
