The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning to the officials of Kerala and Lakshadweep on Saturday that the two regions will face heavy rainfall in the next five days. The agency said the increase in rainfall activity is due to strong westerly winds flowing from the Arabian Sea to the South Peninsular India at lower tropospheric levels.
Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds are expected in isolated areas of Kerala and Lakshadweep.
Fishermen have been warned against venturing into sea areas during the period given by the agency. The agency made a list of the impact expected and a list of actions suggested to face the weather. It warned people from staying in vulnerable structures and to avoid going to areas that face water logging problems.
